where to find books
while we won’t monitor where you buy your books, we strongly encourage considering other options to purchase or borrow books that aren’t big box stores and retailers. here are a few options if you need somewhere to start:
your public library
libraries are extremely cool and it should be a requirement for everyone to have a library card. if you’re library doesn’t carry a book we’re reading, you may be able to request that they purchase a copy, either online or in-person. if you’re not always able to physically go into the library, you can still connect your library card to apps like Libby and Hoopla to check out ebooks and audiobooks. depending on your library, you might also have access to other apps like Kanopy to stream movies and shows or Mango to learn languages!
thrift stores
there are a ton of options here and will depend on your location. it might be harder to find some of our book choices in second-hand shops so a few digital options we’d suggest are Thrift Books or Pango Books.
indie bookstores
this will also depend on your location but Bookshop is an alternative way to support indie bookstores if you’re unable to go in person. here you can choose an indie store you want a percentage of your purchase to go towards. some stores also manage their own inventory and will ship through their website.
radical/independent publishers
whenever possible, we’ll share a direct link to purchase our book picks if it’s public by an independent publisher. Haymarket, Verso, Pluto Press, and 1804 Books are a few options to keep an eye on!
